Miss Critchley digestive system

Mouth: You use the mouth to chew the food and get it into small enough pieces in preparation for the digestive system. The mouth is used during the first stage of the digestive system.

Throat: The throat is like the pavement for the food. It leads from the mouth to the top and bottom of the stomach. The food going through the throat is the second stage in the digestive system.

Esophagus: The esophagus connects the throat to the stomach. It is 8 inches or 20 centimeters in length. The food travelling through the digestive system is the third stage in the digestive system.

Story using 15 different words I learnt.

“Why is it you STOPP’ST of me?” he asked. This reason was for Tyler to tell his Father he will not be a Tottenham player like his father,Mark, but will play for his dream team-Arsenal.

“Father, although you are a close KIN, I feel that I should follow my dreams and I have decided to sign the 4 year contract with Arsenal for £275,000 a week. This is a once in a life time opportunity and I had no choice but to take it,” Tyler QUOTH.

” Why do you act like a LOON you stupid boy. Never go to Arsenal. They are full of nonsense and that is the end of it!”

Tyler was distraught. He went up to the sixth floor of his fathers mansion and then thought. Why listen to him. He is a grown man and he didn’t need his father telling him what to do. That thought stuck with him throughout the night and it was all he could dream about. Playing for Arsenal and scoring a debut goal  in front of all the opposing fans and laughing at them. It was amazing and he sighed when dusk finally rolled around.

“Post for you Tyler!” Mark exclaimed. Tyler sprinted down the stairs and grabbed the letter out of his hand. He peeked inside the envelope and saw the top bit of the Arsenal badge. He had the choice but CHUSE to go upstairs to his room for privacy. He braced himself. It was great news, he made the starting line up and was to attend training at 10:00. But it was 9:15. He chucked on a pair of tracksuit and sprinted out of the door without his father noticing.

“Have to go somewhere dad,” he SPAKE as he sprinted of into the distance. There was only 5 minutes before training and he was 2 miles away. Sprinting for his life he ran into the nearest 24 hour and got a bottle of water and dropped £1 onto the counter. He was off again. Powering down the road. Drivers were going at 20mph and were being passed by him. He would be ther with hardly anyime to spare. But it was a that moment he heard it. A DIN. It was as he looked to his right he realised. That was a horn signalling he was gonna hit Tyler. Sprintig as fast as he could be missed the car by a few inches and walked back up on to the pavement. He thought to himself that he rather be missing the goal by a few inches than being inches away from death.EFTSOON to that he was off again. Sprinting as if his life depended on it. He made it with 30 seconds to spae nd walked in to see absoloute beauty. Sanchez, Giroud, Xhaka and many more. He started playing and the training match begun. Tyler got passed a beautiful through ball and struck with enough power to break the net. Arsenal stood there, astounded. He had just scored against Petr Cech as if he was shooting agaist a 1 year old. He shrugged and played on. The final score was 2-4 to Tyler’s team and he left with a pat on the back and a,

” Welcome to the club,” from the manager.

2 days later- After beating Liverpool 2-1- another letter came. He opened it. A bundle of £50 and £20 notes. As if there was no way of putting his day down, his dad walked into his room.

” What it sitting in THOU’S hand?”

“My first wage for arsenal.”

His dad looked more proud then anything, surprising. He opened his arms and hugged Tyler. This was the first time in a few years that he had done this genuinely.

“WHEREFORE have you got this?”

” I played in the match against Liverpool.”

” I couldn’t be more proud of you.” Tyler could tell that he was telling the truth.

The next day Tyler was back at training. As he was about to kick the ball to get it on the pitch, the manager stuck his arm out.

” Hi boss. For what reason is it that you STOPPETH me.

“You cant train out of uniform.” It was at that moment the manager pulled out the other hand followed by a training kit. Tyler was ordered to go into the changing room and put it on. Once coming out, the group stood in 2 rows clapping him onto the field. After 1.5 hours of training, the match started. It finished at 18:00 on Friday and in the changing one player said,

” Guess what. I’m getting married tomorrow!”

” How des it feel to be a BRIDEGROOM?” Tyler asked

” IT feels good.” Nothing else was said after that.

It was the following Monday and Arsenal were playing the first game and Tyler was on the field for the first time. It was against Tottenham. He could see his dad in the left back position. As he walked onto the pitch ready for training. He could see how SHEEN the whole pitch was. He wasn’t the only new boy because there was another new boy on the Tottenham side. As the match was about to begin the Tottenham boy SWOUND. Medics rushed over and stretchered him off.

As he regained consciousness, he said,

” Did we win. I fainted didn’t I? Of all times! I hope this will ne’er happen again.” As the game came to an end, the goalkeeper flopped a goalkick and left the ball stranded in his own half. Tyler got straight onto it and was 1 on 1. He shot the ball as hard as he could and it was in the net before the keeper even registered to react. It was just like he imagined in his dream. It was like what his dad told him years ago. If you work hard enough, you a achieve anything.

Choose four stanzas to annotate.

 Stanza 1 to annotate:

The ice was here, the ice was there,

The ice was all around,

It cracked and growled, and roared and howled,

Like noises in a swound.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used 3 key different forms of language types. These consist of rhyme, repetition Iambic pentameter. The example of rhyme is around and swound. Not only is it rhyming, but it also adds an effect of a glum sense and the way he has used it  makes it seem as though you can feel this emotion yourself and makes you read it in a way that shows the kind of emotion Coleridge was attempting to create. Another language type Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used is repetition. Not only has he used it to create emotion and feeling, he has used the rhyme and repetition together to create a larger effect. By this I mean, when Coleridge used the rhyme it created a glum and dull effect. By using repetition and saying ‘the ice was here, the ice was there’ he has created a glum and dull effect, but by merging the two components together, it has come together even better. It works well together because the context of which he has used the repetition makes it seem as though it isn’t a positive time and he has managed to pull off  this form of repetition successfully.  The third, and final, type of language feature Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used is Iambic pentameter. It flows almost like a heart beat in the way of it going bu-dum bu-dum bu-dum. The thing I find most fascinating about this rhythm is that it actually goes well with the effect. By using this particular beat ,it makes it work with the rhyme and repetition in the way of making a glum effect. I feel that by using all of these language types together, it has worked together well to create this one big idea aout this stanza.

Stanza 2 to annotate:

The many men, so beautiful,

And they all dead did lie:

And a thousand thousand slimy things

Lived on; and so did I

Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used 4 key language types although I feel only 3 work well. These 3 things are rhyme, alliteration and an Iambic pentameter. The first key feature that works well is the rhyme. The thing I found about this stanza is the wording of the second line: ‘And they all dead did lie’. Coleridge could have easily just written and they all lay dead, but he chose to play with the wording and it worked because once finished it rhymes with I. I think using this rhyme has giving a different emotion to the first stanza I wrote about but it is almost along the same lines. In this case, it seems as though he is going for a sort of deserted and lonely touch to the poem. I get this feeling from the whole stanza because it firstly says about how all of the men were dead except him; this made it seem as though he is lonely and we know from the poem he is on a ship. Now that he is on the ship alone,in the middle of an unknown ocean, the fact it says that a thousand thousand slimy thing lived on and so did I implies he his alone with things that aren’t humans. All of these things are emphasized. From just reading the stanza and focusing on the rhyme. The second type of language used in this stanza is the alliteration. There are a few cases of alliteration in this stanza including ‘many men and ‘ dead did’.The alliteration itself doesn’t work well towards an effect but Coleridge has used something smart and made it work purely based on the lines he has written them in. ‘Many men’ itself doesn’t have much of an effect towards anything, however when these words are  put in the line-‘Many men, so beautiful’- it creates the effect that he loved them and he is now left with hardly anything but these slimy creatures. The third type of language that Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used effectively is Iambic pentameter. Again, like the first stanza, the beat is like a heart beat. It also works with the effect because it flows with effect of being deserted. Although the fact that he is alone on an unknown ocean with 50 dead men, the fact that it sounds like a heartbeat makes me think like he can hear is own heartbeat gives me the feeling of him being alone and deserted. Another point to add is that this stanza perfectly shows the kind of effect and point  Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used throughout the whole of this poem. This is that if you do bad things, bad things happen to you back. I know this because in the poem, the mariner shot the albatross which is a bad thing and after that through the rest of the poem, he has had all of these bad things happen to him.

Stanza 3 to annotate:

The cold sweat melted from their limbs,

Nor rot nor reek did they:

The look with which they looked on me,

Had never passed away.

The language features used in this stanza are Iambic pentameter and rhyme. Samuel Taylor Coledridge has used Iambic pentameter successfully in this stanza to create a kind of time passing quick. The thing that makes these two connect is how the rhythm of the iambic pentameter is quite quick and what connects it to the poemis that it is probably how fast his mind is rushing since he ca see dead people watching him.The other language feature that Coleridge has used is rhyme. The words that rhyme are they and away. I think, also like the previous stanza, Coleridge has tweaked the order of the words so that they can rhyme. He coud have easily wrote they did not reek or rot, yet tweaked the words and it made the outcome better and it added rhyme to the stanza. As well as this, Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used alliteration, but it didn’t work very effectively. The words he used are with which and although it is alliteration, it doesn’t work very effectively. I think this because the mood that Coleridge has created is a lonely and deserted kind. This alliteration does not really go with the effect and, for me, kind of ruins he great effect of the stanza.

Stanza 4 to annotate

Day after day, Day after day,

We stuck, nor breath nor motion,

As idle as a painted ship,

Upon a painted ocean

In this stanza Samuel Taylor Coleridge ha used man different key language features. These are repetition, Rhyme and Iambic pentameter. The first thing I am going to talk about is the repetition. The way that Coleridge has used the repetition was to pass the time quickly. By using day after day twice, it shows that Coleridge is trying to pass a very long period of time over just a few words. I find this good because normally poets would write something like days passed, weeks passed and so on, but the way that he has used this is n the poem is better. Another ting that Samuel Taylor Coleridge has used is Rhyme. The way he has used the rhyme works because the line with motion was speaking about how still the ship was and the line with ocean  is about how still the sea is; showing how closely related they are. The final thing  am going to talk about is the Iambic pentameter. It has a bu dum bu dum bu dum and then a gap to mae the classic beat. I think it is kind of out off place. I think this because the rhythm is quite fast which is ironic because the whole stanza is about how still as slow everything is and then you have the rhythm going quite fast.

Ancient Mariner part the seventh

The first thing that happens in part the seventh of the time if the ancient Mariner is thag he is getting closer and closer to the harbour so now he can see it and there are people there wondering how did he find his way back when his compass would not work and the fact that he hasn’t got decent sails because they are so thin and easily ripable. The second thing that happened in part the seventh is that as he was about to get to the harbout and then the noise under the boat started to sound like dread and he fell out of the boat, but floated like a dead body. At this point I started to think that he is actually dead and he has turned into one of the angels that the dead bodies were. The third thing that happened was that a person rowed into the water and took him out to find he was alive by speaking and it gave him an  awful fright when he realized he was dead. The fourth thing that happened is he got to land and  he had an agonizing pain but once he re told the Storey the pain went. The final thing that happened in the poem was that I’m the months and months of him talking in the story the final part of the poem was that it all took place on the space of 2 minutes.

Ancient Mariner part the sixth summary

The first thing that happened in part the sixth is that it seems there is someone or something looking over the ocean and on the Mariner and that ‘thing’ is causing grievous all of the mysterious things to happen to him. The second thing that happens in part the sixth is that he has woken up to something amazing. These things are that it was a gentle weather, the dead men are standing together and the ship is being propelled along by something underneath the water. This amazes me because so far in the poem if anything good happens, then it is soon followed by something bad, however it seems like this isn’t going to happen. The third thing that happens in this part is that lots of time has passed and nothing has happened so Coleridge is starting to show that the Mariner’s bad luck could be well and truely over. I think that he has chosen a great time for that to happen because I as the reader am starting to feel sorry for the Mariner since all of these bad things have happened and it makes me feel sympathetic. The fourth thing that happened is that whilst this good luck spree has being going on he has started to see the most satisfying thing he will probably ever see. His country. At this point in the poem I feel more than ecstatic for the Marinier because i know now that he has gone through enough pain out at sea and so by finding his land without a compass I feel very happy for the Mariner. The final thing that happened in part the sixth is that gen find out the dead men that were on the boat were actually angels and they were the cause of him getting home safely and pretty much unharmed. As well as this, he feels he can ask for forgiveness and will hopefully get what he is asking for.

Time of the ancient mariner part the fifth summary

The first key thing that happens in part the fifth is that he woke up on the boat and he saw that the sail was flapping. This meant two different things. One, that there was wind for the first time and two, that the boat would soon start moving again. This is amazing because at this point he has been in a way tortured on this expedition, yet now he has just blessed the water snakes showing that he can pray again and now there is wind in the area that is soon push him along the water.

The second thing that happened is that as if the curse has finally passed, a cloud has started to follow the boat and is only moving in the direction the boat is going. I find this weird because the cloud is directly above them and it is only going towards him and the boat nothing else. I know this because in the poem there is a quote saying’ the Lightning fell with never a jag’ which shows me that he Lightning has gone in a straight line and gone directly towards where the Mariners is. I have a feeling that Samuel Taylor Coleridge is trying to make you sympathise on the Mariner. I am led to believe this because all of these bad things have been happening to the Mariner and as soon as things look to have been looking better this happens. It makes me think that whoever is doing is to him feels he never deserves to be forgiven or even try to be better in order to make him a better person.

The third key thing that happened is that the people who were dead but not really dead got up and started helping the mariner with the sailing but every on of them were still watching them. Then they all dropped and the spirits left there bodies but in the form of sound. The part I am most curious about is once the spirits leave. This is because they somehow must have managed to get in the body before they all raised and helped but made no noise. Another reason I am curious about this is because when they left and started making sounds, it must have felt very upsetting in a way because it was almost that he had people to collaborate with for a while but then they left and were just hovering above him making noise however invisible.

The fourth key thing that happened in part the fifth is that the boat was just sailing but then it started to rock forwards, backwards, left and right but then suddenly it seemed as though to do a huge leap and went crashing onto the water knocking the mariner out. I feel this happened because the thing that has been doing all of this must have just thought to make his life even worse and started making the boat move and finally take one big movement forward that would knock him out and would leave him unconscious. The fifth key thing that happened is that two voices lurked above him talking about him. This was once he had regained consciousness. They were talking about him. I know this because in the poem it says’ is this the man implying  tthat they could see him and were talking about him. What I find the weirdest about this is that they can see him but he can’t see them making it seem as though these two voices are the two that have been causing the ancient mariner all of this misfortune. Are they? I will find out soon

Christopher Pike Master Of Murder

I have recently just finished a book called Christopher Pike Master Of Murder. It is a great book about a 17 year old boy who is also America’s number 1 author. His girlfriend Shelly Quade is reading his hit series but no one knows who the real author is. One year ago a boy called Harry Paster jumped off of the bridge and died when landing into the lake, or did he. Who killed Harry if he was killed? Why had they done if so? Why would he commit suicide if he did? To read more buy the book or if you are in the school I go to you could get it from the library. I picked up the book and within a few days I was nearly halfway in. It’s a very addictive book. In my opinion, if you haven’t read one of the Christopher pike books then you haven’t read a good book. I urge you to read this book because it is short- only 180 or so pages- and you will love it.
