I think the first thing that happened was that the mariner came to land and a wedding guest is forced to listen to what he has to say. Next a came a huge storm and an albatross appeared. It seems that it was giving them good luck. The third big point was that the Mariner shit the albatross with a crossbow. The fourth thing is that all the good things that happened began to stop. Fifth, the wind stopped completely and the boat wasn’t stuck in an ocean on man knew existed. They had a small food and water supply and started to hilusinate. Finally they were at the point that they couldn’t even talk but the Mariner carried the dead bird on a necklace.

Homework part the second
Day after day, day after day,
We suck, nor breath, nor motion,
As idle as a painted ship,
Upon a painted Ocean.
I think this is a metaphor that is trying to say the sea and the ship are still. In a painting there are still waves, but the author who wrote this stanza -Taylor Coleridge- is trying to say that the water of which they were sailing on was still like a painting but still had a few waves.
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Old English:
The wedding-Guest sat on a stone,
He cannot chuse but hear,
And thus he spake on that ancient man,
The bright-eyed Mariner
Normal:
The wedding-Guest sat on a stone,
Forced to listen and hear,
And then spoke to that ancient man,
The bright-eyed Mariner.
I think this paragraph is saying that the man/ woman is meant to be at a wedding but instead the Mariner forced him to sit down on a stone and listen to him.
Wide Reading Project
During the year you will be asked to read a wide range of texts. Using texts studied in class as well as texts you have selected you will also complete a log of the reading process. Overall you will read eight texts including at least six written texts and two visual texts. You will complete log entries on each text and present a report on your findings.
Attached is the outline of your required personal reading project – inside is the guidance you need to make sure your own-choice reading is going to meet the wide reading criteria.
You can always ask your teacher for advice about which texts would be best to concentrate on – and once you’ve read each text, you’ll then be asked to write a journal entry on your blog explaining how it helped develop your understanding of The Individual and Society.
This year everyone in the school will be required to have a ‘book at hand’ – and for English students, it makes a good idea to make that book one that helps you towards this reading project.
